Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung visited construction project of the Hanoi Metro rapid transit system in the capital city of Viet Nam on 16 November morning during his visit in the Indochina Peninsula country to attend the 25th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting (ATM) and associated meetings with dialogue partners.
The Union Minister and party observed the project by taking a train ride from the Cát Linh station to the Vanh Dai 3 station. At the office of Project Manage Management Unit, they listened to the project.
The 13.1 km-long Hanoi Metro system consists of 8 lines, including 12 elevated and underground sections. The estimated cost for the project is US$868 million and is slated to open soon.
The Union Minister and party also visited Vietnam Railway headquarters, and Deputy Director Genera Mr Phan Quoc Anh explained the existing and future railway system of the country.
The Union Minister and party arrived back to Yangon on 16 November afternoon.—MNA
