Temporary rescue camps for flood victims in Hpa-an, Kayin State were closed starting from 30 August.
The water level of Thanlwin River reached 872 centimeters above its danger mark, 750 centimeters. Therefore, a total of eight temporary rescue camps were opened starting from the evening of 24 August.
Now, the water level in the river has decreased and the households in the camps returned to their homes. Therefore, five rescue camps were closed starting from 29 August. On 30 August, three remaining rescue camps were also closed due to the decrease of water level in the river under its danger level.
