A terrorist carrying handmade mines intended for violent acts was shot and captured by security forces along the NyaungU-Bagan Road in NyangU Township, Mandalay Region.
The incident occurred around 6 am yesterday as security personnel were conducting operations to prevent terrorists from establishing bases within the Bagan Ancient Cultural Heritage Zone, ensuring that cultural heritage remains protected from destruction and safeguarding public safety. Security forces intercepted a motorcycle driven by an individual approaching from NyangU, but the rider attempted to flee without stopping. In response, security forces fired shots to stop the bike, which ultimately crashed.
Upon inspecting the motorcycle, security personnel discovered two handmade mines made with concrete pipes. The driver, identified as a terrorist, was found dead from gunshot wounds. Reports indicate that security forces are actively working to enhance security measures within the Bagan Archaeological Zone to prevent further acts of violence. — MNA/ KZL
