A total of 12 illegal Myanmar migrant workers were handed over by the Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterpart at Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge-2 yesterday afternoon.

The returnees were welcomed by personnel from Tachilek Township Immigration Department, General Administration Department, the Labor Department, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force, the Disaster Management Department and the Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens (CNCMC), a Me Sai-based welfare society.

The Thai government had arrested and detained them as they did not have work permits, and were found holding expired border passes.—Ya Se, IPRD
