Thanantana Dhamma Palaka (Hindu) Association held 25th Waso Robe Offering Ceremony at the State Pariyatti Sasana University (Yangon) yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Ambassador of India Mr Shri Saurabh Kumar, Director-General of the Religious Affairs Department U Myit Oo and officials, Chairman of the All-Interfaith Unity Group U Thaung Htaik and members, Chairman of the Young Men’s Buddhist Association U Sein Than and members, U Nanda, Chairman of All Myanmar Hindu Central Council, and members, U Maung Maung, Chairman of the Thanantana Dhamma Palaka Association, and members, and people from Hindu community.
The congregation led by the Union minister first received the Five Precepts from the Yezagyo Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Nanindhasara.
Afterwards, Hindu women recited the Mingala Suta, and Shri Rajesh Kumar (a) U Kyaw Kyaw of the Thanantana Dhamma Palaka Association supplicated the association’s activities in the areas religion, social and culture.
Afterwards, on behalf of the association, the chairman and deputy chairman presented a certificate of honour to Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko for being conferred an honourary doctorate title by the Chulalongkorn University of Thailand.
At the ceremony, the Indian ambassador and officials offered Waso robes to the Members of the Sangha. The ceremony ended with a “soon” (meal) to the Members of the Sangha.—MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
