NANG Phaw Awa Beach Thingyan is planned to be held throughout April on the banks of the Thanlwin River in Hpa-an Township, according to interviews with locals.

“This year, preparations are underway to hold the Nang Phaw Awa Beach Thingyan on the Thanlwin River for the entire month of April. Friends from near and far are invited to come and enjoy the scenic spots of Hpa-an, the beautiful waterfalls and mountain springs, and enjoy the coolness of the Thanlwin water while eating at the food stalls,” said a local.

This year is the first time to hold the month-long Thingyan event, said an official from the Myanmar Social Welfare Association (Hpa-an).

“The event will be held for the whole of April. Preparations are currently underway. It is located beyond the Kanna Night Bazaar. In previous years, there was no month-long celebration. This is special,” he said.

Currently, Hpa-an sees continuous domestic tourism, with many visitors on weekends and public holidays. Guesthouses and hotels are full on busy days, and it is expected that there will be a lot of visitors during Thingyan, said locals. — MT/ZN
