The third batch of volunteers, including doctors and nurses, travelling to Rakhine State of their own will to assist in the preventing, containment and treatment measures of COVID-19 arrived in Sittway by an MAI flight yesterday evening. 

They were welcomed at the airport by State Minister for Social Affairs Dr Chan Thar, local public health and treatment department head Dr Soe Win Zaw Hlaing, Director Dr Nyan Win Myint of the Central Field Unit (Communicable Disease Eradication), Sittway General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Zaw Lwin and other officials.

The 41-member volunteer group consists of doctors, medics, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists and midwifes who will be temporarily serving in Sittway General Hospital. The COVID-9 Rapid Response Team and the medical volunteers are civil servants from the health ministries of Nay Pyi Taw, Bago Region and Mandalay Region. They include a director, a deputy director, 6 assistant doctors, 5 senior nurses, an assistant medic, 2 lab technicians, 2 pharmacists, 20 nurses and 3 midwives. The special flight also transported medical supplies and equipment for use against COVID-19 in Rakhine State.
