The Rural Development Department is engaged in electricity distribution to villages which found themselves off main power lines. Under its scheme, three villages in Salin Township, Magway Region were installed with solar panels, according to U Kyaw Zeya from the Township Rural Development Department.

Under the project of (NEP) ICB-2, a total of 308 households in three villages were provided 308 solar panels with 60 W.

The project covers villages ten miles away from the main power line and the households with solar panels contributed K 50,000 a quarter of the expense. In addition, solar panels for three schools, 25 street lights and three monasteries were installed free of charge.
