The International Lethwei Federation Japan and the Myanmar Media Group will jointly organize a Myanmar traditional Lethwei fight in Japan on 17 May.

The Lethwei event headlined “Lethwei in Japan 12 – Proof of the Brave” will be held at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and it is part of a series of Lethwei events in Japan. Myanmar’s Min Maung Maung will clash with Japanese fighter Kouhei Tokeshi in the main event. Tokeshi competed with other Myanmar lethwei fighters including Pyan Thway, Yan Naing Aung, Min Htet Aung, and Yar Mahn in previous Lethwei bouts in Japan and Myanmar.

Ye Thway Ni, 20 years old fastest rising star from the Kayin State-based Taunggalay Lethwei Club will compete with Japaense pugilist Makoto (aka) Basta. Byat Ga, another Lethwei contender who exhibited his impressive fighting skills in previous Lethwei ring also takes on Japan’s Shyuhei Higashi.

There will be another two bouts between fighters from Japan, New Zealand, Congo and United States under Myanmar’s Lethwei rules. The fight will be a delayed broadcast on MNTV and ticket prices range from ¥ 4,000 to ¥ 10,000—By Kyaw Htike Soe
