AFTER the flood and earthquake, rehabilitation has been in progress in Inlay, but visitor arrival has been seen again, said an official from Thitsar Mandine Social Association, which helps in relief efforts in the area.

The Inlay area, one of the well-known tourist destinations in Myanmar, was affected by the flood and devastated again by the earthquake when visitor arrivals resumed during recovery from the former disaster.

“Not only donors, we have seen now a few visitors, both foreigners and locals,” he said.

At present, 80 per cent of rehabilitation efforts have been completed in Inlay, however, private hotels are still under restoration.

“Hotels have still been under restoration, and some have been under demolition. For now, hotels on the lake can’t provide accommodation, but some foreigners come to research in Inlay by staying in Nyaungshwe or Shwenyaung,” he said. — Htet Oo Maung/ZS
