The traditional cart businesses get a good income in Kyaukse Township, said U Kyaw Myint, a cart maker from Zayet Phyu Village, Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region.

The traditional cart business is a livelihood which earns the businessmen a decent income in Kyaukse Township. Regarding the selling of cart, there are many kinds of the cart. Among them, gold carts, racing carts, vehicle carts and farming carts are highly demanded. 

Sometimes, the carts are ordered from Nay Pyi Taw to be used as a decoration in hotels. We own gold carts and rent them to be used in the novitiation ceremonies and charities. During the Coronavirus pandemic period, there are no novitiation ceremonies and charities. So, we could not rent our gold carts. We know the art to make the carts. So, we are making different kinds of carts. In the harvest time, we are making the farming carts. 

So, we get a decent income, said U Kyaw Myint, a cart maker. The carts are made of hardwood such as teak, Padauk and Inn. The price of a cart is dependent upon the type of the cart. The carts used in races cost K 500,000 per cart while the carts used as vehicles cost K 570,000 per cart. The farming cart costs K 680,000 and a gold cart used in the donation ceremony costs K 1.8 million. The carts used for decoration in hotels cost K 2 million per cart.
