Traffic has been allowed to cross the Bayintnaung Bridge 1, which was opened in 1994, after being upgraded, according to the Ministry of Construction.
After inspecting the condition of the bridge which has received maintenance and upgradation since 5 October, Deputy Minister for Construction U Kyaw Lin gave the green light to the traffic yesterday morning to use the bridge.
The bridge’s four piers in the water and two piers on land were fixed with 12 new bearing plates and two approach infrastructures were upgraded.
The over 25-year-old bridge is the first of four bridges over the Hlaing River and can withstand 20 tons of load.—Than Htike (Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
