Mogaung, 26 July
A cargo train bound for Myitkyina, Kachin State capital from Mandalay was derailed at milepost No. 672/15 and milepost No. 672/16 between Taungni and Hsarhmaw railway stations at about 5 p.m. on 25 July.
The cause of the derailment is still unknown. The derailment has led to temporary shutdown of the trains along the route. Some train schedules were changed for the convenience of the passengers from Myitkyina and Mandalay.
Damaged railway track was repaired by the Myanma Railways officials and local policemen to operate the trains on a regular basis. The railroad is now open as of 1 a.m. today—Win Naing (Kachin Land)
