Pekon, 7 March

A ceremony to wrap up a training course for auxiliary midwives was held at the meeting hall of a public hospital in the town of Pekon, Shan State (North) yesterday. The training course was jointly organized by Access to health fund and State Health Grant.

At the ceremony, the Township Administrator U Myint Lwin gave an opening speech. Then, the Township Medical Superintendent Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Oo clarified the purposes of the training course and explained the discipline to be abode by the trainees.

This was followed by the presentation of completion certificates, outstanding award and kit boxes to the trainees by officials. Then, a trainee spoke words of thanks on behalf of the trainees.

The six-month training course was attended by 20 auxiliary midwives from villages in the Township, according to Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Oo. Also present on the occasion were the township Administrator, departmental officials, village Administrators, members of social organizations, staff from Department of Public Health and trainees.—Ko Htway, Township IPRD
