Torrential downpours hit Taninthayi Township, Taninthayi Region on the first week of July and it caused the increase of water level of the river. According to the measurement at 6 pm on July 13, the water level of Taninthayi River has exceeded 15 feet above average water level and water entered into the low-lying areas in the township.
Since the inter-village roads were inundated, Tharagone BEMS (Branch) and Phome BEPS were temporarily closed down starting from July 13, according to Township Education Officer. The warning level of Taninthayi River is 17 ft and the danger level is 24 ft, according to the Township General Administration Department.
