Two people died and two others were seriously injured in a gold mine collapse in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.
The incident took place in a gold mine operated by a local mining company near Letpanpyant Village at about 6 p.m. on 22 March. The gold mine measuring 4 ft. wide and 200 ft. deep collapsed while four miners were working inside the mine. Two men identified as Shwe Soe Aung, 26, and Hla Myo Aung, 24, were pronounced dead and two others sustained severe injuries in the incident.
The injured miners were sent to a public hospital and an investigation into the case is ongoing by the local police.—MOHA
