Two men were killed in a landslide at a ruby mining site in Mogok Township, Mandalay Region, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The incident occurred at an abandoned ruby mining site near Kyauk Pyathat Village at about 2:50 p.m. on July 12. Seven men were working when mudslide fell into the ruby mining site. Five men managed to flee the scene and two men died in the mudslide. Firefighters from a local fire service station in cooperation with concerned departments are carrying out a search and rescue operation.
Corpses of the victims were retrieved from debris and sent to a nearby rural hospital for medical examination.—MOHA
