Two people went missing after a ferryboat capsized in the Ayeyawady River in NyaungU Township, Mandalay Region at about 6:30 p.m. on August 26, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.
    

A ferryboat measuring 13 ft. in length, 4 ft. in width, 4 ft. in draught and carrying 15 people was operated by a man named Kyat Lay Ko, 22, from Thiri Mingalar Ward in NyaungU and the boat capsized near Thayawady Jetty while travelling to Ward-1 from Ward-2 along the Ayeyawady River. 14 people were rescued but two people including a 29-year old man and a 24-year old woman sank in the water and went missing in the incident.
    

A search operation for the missing people is underway and the boat operator is being questioned by the local police.
