Hpa-an, 26 February
A ceremony to donate 25,133 baskets of paddy seed to 600 farmers took place at the monastery of Warsu village, Hpa-an Township, Kayin State yesterday morning. TZU-Chi Charity Foundation under Taiwan Philanthropic Organization donated 25,133 baskets of paddy seed to 600 farmers from 90 village-tract, Hpa-an Township, Kayin State to be cultivated in 25,133 acres of paddy fields fallen into ruing owning to flooding in rainy season.
At the ceremony, Head of Kayin State Agricultural Department U Win Hlaing Oo explained about the current situations of paddy fields hit hard by floods. Next, personnel from TZU-Chi Charity Foundation clarified about the donations and distributed the paddy seeds to local farmers.
The Kayin State Government and Myanmar Rice Federation jointly make an effort to help 30,498 acres of flood-hit paddy fields return to normal in Kayin State.
TZU-Chi Charity Foundation is planned to provide paddy seeds to farmers from Yangon and Bago Regions, Mon and Kayin States.- Nay Myo Lwin (IPRD)
