The Union Attorney-General’s Office has introduced the accomplishment of Myanmar Law Information System (MLIS) project which was jointly set up with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The MLIS is a website providing service of the Myanmar law information in supporting the improvement of rule of law included in priority sectors of the reform process of the country.

At the ceremony, Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo said that MLIS was first launched on the website of UAGO on 24 May last year. The UAGO and the KOICA signed a record of discussion in October 2015 to create a separate website for the MLIS.

Officials and experts from the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Government Legislation, the KOICA, and the National Law Information Center of Republic of Korea (KLIS) coordinated with the officials of UAGO for implementing this project.

The Union Attorney-General also said the website https://www.mlis.gov.mm is a hub for law information which is very useful for law researchers, law students, lawmakers, and business investors, while it will also contribute a lot in the e-Government process of the country.

Ms. Lee Youn Soo, the Chief Representative of KOICA Myanmar Office, said the MLIS can be viewed by the civil service staff and the general public, and that it will be supportive for rule of law and democratic reform process. She added the government needs to support development of this system, and it is expected their agency could work together in public service projects.

At the ceremony, Mr Lee Sang Su, the Director General of MOLEG presented three sets of law books for 2,788 Subordinate Legislation of Union Laws.

The ceremony was attended by 35 persons from UAGO, MOLEG, KOICA, KLIS and Beintech Co Ltd. , and they also discussed the operation, maintenance and continuing support for MLIS system.
