Union Legal Supporting Group (ULSG) conducted a national-level talk on “Right for an early legal representation” at Kempinski Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw Hotel Zone yesterday morning.
At the talk, ULSG Chairman U Nyan Win said, “The main aim of the day’s talk is for us to assist if a citizen doesn’t get its full rights for any reason. It is not to influence the court matter or to pressure the court. It is just to provide a citizen with the full right accorded. This is the duty and responsibility of our group.
Our country didn’t have this sort of group before. The talk is held with the help of relevant departments to serve the people. To date, our group had handled more than 50 cases and we’ll strive toward doing more.”
Next, ULSG Secretary U Khin Zaw explained about the constitution of the group.
This was followed by ULSG members, international adviser, national adviser, secretary conducted talks about various topics on legal representation and attendees provided discussions and suggestions.
Attendees also discussed on the best way for ULSG to provide early legal representation, dos and don’ts to avoid corruption when providing legal representation and cooperation with relevant government departments and organisations.— Myo Myint (MNA)
