Tachilek, 15 June

 

Six Myanmar migrant workers including four men, a woman and a child were sent back by the Thai authorities as their border passes have expired. The hand-over took place at Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge-2 yesterday.

 

Also present on the occasion were officials from Tachilek District General Administration Department, the Labor Department, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force, the Disaster Management Department and the Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens (CNCMC), a Mai Sai-based welfare society. The returnee workers were sent to their places of  origin after being provided with health care.

 

A total of 916 illegal Myanmar migrant workers including 603 men, 281 women and 32 children have been handed over by Thailand to Myanmar from January 1 to June 14 this year.—Sai Aung Zaw Lynn
