Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw inspected the construction project of Korea-Myanmar Friendship Bridge (Dala) in Yangon yesterday.
At the briefing room of the project’s Yangon side in Lanmadaw Township, U Kyaw Kaung Cho, Deputy Director-General from the Bridge Management Department, explained the bridge project including the construction of temporary bridges and working platforms for bored pilling process.
Mr Yun Ho Cho, Project Director from GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, reported on the conditions of the project on both sides of Yangon and Dala, preparation for construction of its main bridge section, and possible environmental impacts of the project and workplace safety.
After listening to the reports, the Union Minister instructed officials to focus on workplace safety in bored piling work processes, and maintain the standard quality of the bored pilling.
He also inspected preparation for bored piling at the project’s Yangon side and installation of warning signals and signs on the Yangon River.
The bridge that crosses the Yangon River and connects the Phone Gyi Road in Lanmadaw Township with Bo Min Yaung Road in Dala, is 1,867 metres long and has a four-lane motorway of 26.5mitres.
The reinforced concrete bridge with bored piles foundation and steel cables will withstand 75 tonnes.
If the bridge is completed, the travel times between Yangon and Dala, will be reduced, and the transportation between Yangon and Ayeyawady regions will also be easier through Dala, Twantay, Kawhmu, Kungyangon, Dedaye, Pyapon and Bogale townships. — MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
