Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and the Myanmar delegation landed in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, at 7 am local time yesterday.
They attended the welcoming ceremony of ‘ASEAN-Korea Train’ programme which was held at the Hilton Hotel Grand Ballroom at noon.
Secretary-General of ASEAN-Korea Centre Mr Lee Hyuk and Philippine Department of Tourism Assistant Secretary Reynaldo Lacao Ching made the welcoming speeches to the participants of senior government officials from ASEAN member countries and the ROK before the ASEAN-Korea Train programme video was shown and the documentary photo taken.
In the evening, the Union Minister and party attended the KBS Open Concert and dinner to mark the welcoming ceremony of ‘ASEAN-Korea Train’, at the KBS Hall (Korean Broadcasting System) in Yeouido, Seoul.
Together with the Union Minister, the opening ceremony and dinner were attended by Myanmar Ambassador to ROK U Thant Sin and the delegation members Deputy Permanent Secretary U Myint Kyaw, Head of International Relations Department of Yangon University Professor Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, Executive Committee member of UMFCCI Dr Soe Tun, Actor Myo Htut Naing (a) Khar Yar from Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, Member of Ayeyawady Region Youth Affairs Committee U Myo Thura Ko Ko and Mandalay Region Youth Affairs Committee Thant Lwin Oo (a) Su Sha Shin Thant.
With the theme of ‘Advancing Together’, the programme from 15 to 19 October is aimed to foster deeper cultural understanding and better bilateral relations between the ROK and ASEAN countries.
It is organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre and hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-Korea dialogue as an official side event for the ASEAN-Korea summit in Busan next month.
