EFFORTS should be made to enhance capabilities to improve departmental operations and to foster innovative thinking for the further development of the coun­try’s media sector, said Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn.

 

The Union minister made the above-mentioned instruction during the meeting with regional and state departmental heads who arrived in Nay Pyi Taw to attend the annual meeting and 34th-anniversary ceremony of the Information and Public Re­lations Department.

 

He continued that the staff should learn about the current situation of the country and try hard to provide the people with true information by combatting misinformation and disinforma­tion using modern technologies. Moreover, they should cooperate with the ministries concerned to ensure the success of the visions and missions of the government.

 

He also highlighted the guid­ance of the Head of the State to hold raising reading habit and library development campaigns in respective regions and states, to hold talk shows, reading ses­sions and discussions to enhance knowledge, five essential capac­ities and stimulate patriotism of youths. He stressed the need to study the election law and make sector-wise preparations for holding multiparty democratic general elections based on de­mocracy and the federal system, the government’s ultimate goal.

 

He heard the reports of rel­evant officials and concluded the meeting.

 

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn also presented uni­forms to the staff, who are serv­ing duties in border areas, at the event. — MNA/KTZH
