Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint gave awards to the winners at the photo and postcard contests organized by the Information and Public Relations Department under the title of “Value of State, Prestige of Nationality”.

The award-giving ceremony at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Yangon yesterday was also attended by Yangon Region Government’s Rakhine Ethnic Affairs Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, departmental heads and officials, representatives from organizations and associations, award-winners and invited guests.

In delivering a speech, Union Minister Dr Pe Myint said that the Ministry of Information is organizing photo and postcard contests annually to mark the Independence Day, and the 72nd anniversary will fall on 4 January 2020.

The event was aimed to convey messages through photos and postcards on distinguished historical traditions of the country, cultural heritages and customary practices of each nationality, unveiling unity, peace and tranquility, historic sites, natural beauties, happiness and freedom in the country.

A total of 181 professional and amateur photographers joined the photo contest with their 735 pictures, and 23 contestants with 224 postcards in the competition for eight awards each in the two contests.

The Union Minister presented first prizes to the award-winners in photo and postcard contests, and other awards were given by the dignitaries.

Director-General of IPRD U Ye Naing awarded honorary certificates to Retail Market Manager U Zwe Yan Bo from the TMW Enterprise Limited and Vice Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Zaw Min from Mingalar Cinema Group for their contributions in the prize-awarding ceremony.
