Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw inspected road maintenance works along the Yangon-Pyay-Magway Road yesterday morning.
The Union Minister arrived at Bwet Gyi Bridge on the Pyay-Magway Road and inspected the bridge maintenance work, preventive work conducted against erosion of bridge approach road, status of water way and bridge piers.
From there the Union Minister inspected the construction project site of Ayeyawady Bridge (Thayet-Aunglan) in Magway Region Thayet District constructed by Department of Bridge Construction, Construction Group 3.
Ayeyawady Bridge (Thayet-Aunglan) was in Thayet District Magway Region and connects Aunglan Town on the east bank of the river with Thayet Town on the west bank of the river. The bridge has a total length of 2,272.5 meter with 8.5 meter wide road and a meter wide pedestrian path on both side of the bridge. Waterway clearance beneath the bridge was 130 meter wide and 16 meter high. The bridge was a steel frame arch type with AASHTO HS 25-44 Loading.
It was an important bridge that lies on the economic corridor road that connects Kyaukpyu Special Economic Zone with Shweli (Ruili) passing through Thayet, Aunglan and Nay Pyi Taw. — MNA
