Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint attended the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) – 2020 which is in progress from 5 to 10 November and the opening ceremony of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum yesterday evening online.
At the event, President of the People’s Republic of China Mr Xi Jinping delivered an opening remark, saying that the CIIE aims to help recover economic impact from the COVID-19 pandemic and to increase investment and cultural exchange. He continued that China is promoting the free flow of technology to promote cross-border e-commerce, and the exhibition showcases new technology products and innovations. He added that China has been working with regional and international organizations and is actively participated in the reform process of the World Trade Organization.
Afterwards, leaders of the respective countries, officials from WHO, WTO and WIPO delivered video keynote speeches.
The 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE)-2020 has been held annually since 2018 to open access to international products into China’s vast market, and this year marks the third time the expo has been held. The Expo will feature both online and offline exhibitions from 45 countries, and Myanmar will display ready-made fried Kaw Pyant, dry tea leaves, cashew nut and food items.
The theme of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum is “Opening and Innovating for Win-Win Cooperation” and it is a high-level dialogue for the global political, economic and educational communities to propose “Hongqiao Wisdom” for improving global economic governance, for reform and healthy global economic development.
The forum was also attended by the Deputy Minister for Commerce, the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Directors-General and officials among others.—MNA (Translated by Ei Phyu Phyu Aung)
