Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance Board Retreat Meeting was held in New Delhi, India on 4 and 5 December, attended by Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe, a member of the Board.
Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister discussed the review of financial aid policy of Gavi and future funds, test injection of anti-malarial drugs in African countries, tactics and strategies to be implemented in the mid-income level countries, anti-Ebola programme in African countries and means for the greater effectiveness of tactics and strategies to be adopted for developing countries during the period from 2021 to 2025.
On 3 December, he studied vaccines cold chain and vaccine management at National Cold Chain and Vaccine Management Resource Centre at National Institute of Health and Welfare.
Gavi provided over UD$ 116 million for vaccination program of the Ministry of health and Sports from 2012 to 2017. It has already allotted an aid of over US$ 123 million for providing vaccines, giving new types of vaccines, mass vaccination campaigns, vaccines cold chain optimization platform and health system promotion.—MNA
