The Myanmar, American, Korean’s Neurosurgical Meeting 2019 was held at the Melia Hotel in Yangon yesterday morning.

 

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe suggested senior medical experts at home and abroad to share the video records on joint operations to the junior surgeries across the country.


He also requested medical experts from the United States and the Republic of Korea to give advice on curriculum reforms in neurological surgeries at the pre-graduate and post-graduate levels at medical universities of Myanmar.


He also remarked on the importance of preoperative care and postoperative care in any surgery.


The Ministry of Health and Sports is building a new hospital specializing in neuro and cardio care with the Japanese grant, and it will become a hospital for treatments of advanced heart disease and neurosurgical operations after it is completed in 2020.


The meeting was attended by medical specialists from Henry Ford Hospital of the United States, professors and associated professors of Ajou University of the ROK, Myanmar medical professors, doctors and nurses.


Senior medical experts shared knowledge on neurological diagnostic tests, operation equipment, neurological cancer, intensive cares, and records on neurological injuries.


The new generation of Myanmar neurologists also made their discussions.


The well-experienced neurological experts will conduct operations together with Myanmar doctors at the North Okkalapa General Hospital for two weeks up to 14 November.


The Henry Ford Hospital from the United States also donated US$20,000 worth of neurophysiological machine and $ 15,000 worth of brain scanner infrascan machine to the Ministry of Health and Sports.—MNA
