A refresher course to share knowledge about prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 activities and the latest researches for the doctors in regions and states was conducted via videoconferencing yesterday.
At the session, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe discussed the mutation of coronavirus, new strategies and treatment to control the disease, arrangements of the ministry for the medical professors to deliver the latest findings, changing strategies and treatment regarding COVID-19, the current situation of the disease in international countries and Myanmar for about 800 doctors who joined the today course, infection rate across the nation and the needy of skills for every doctor regarding the nature of infection and pandemic, quarantine and isolation, lab test, treatment and protective activities.
The Union Minister continued saying that the further seminars and refresher courses will be conducted regularly online for the doctors, nurses and basic healthcare workers according to the university, subject and sectors. The time table and the medical professors who will deliver a talk will be announced on the Facebook page in advance. The refresher course will be conducted under two main topics like public health sector and treatment sector.
He talked about learning resources for the doctors across the nation by posting the topics on the Facebook of the ministry to make reference at any time, quality COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, Universal Health Coverage of the country, appreciation to townships doctors, special assistant doctors, specialists and superintendents for participation in the refresher course.
He said the ministry would broadcast more than 200 video clips regarding medical subjects via https://event-mohs.gov.mm/ starting 23-10-2020.
He stressed the better ability of the doctors, nurses and other medical staff who serve in remote areas as they can watch the seminars via internet any time, Outcome Based Integrated Curriculum which was started teaching in 2019 at the medical universities, discussions with the medical professors, seeking suggestions from the trainees, review of previous courses experience, making video clips of refresher courses and the supports of the ministry like human resources and financial assistance.
Then, Deputy Director-General Dr Tun Tin (Disease Control), Professor/Dean Dr Zaw Lin Aung of the University of Medicine (1) including other medical professor doctors respectively presented the latest researches, nature of quarantine, treatments, lab test, transportation services for the patients, emergency treatment, reasons of deaths, current strategies and directives for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities of the country.
Those who attended the course later gave their views on these matters, and the professors and the experts replied to the points raised while the Union Minister made a concluding remark.—MNA (Translated by Khine Thazin Han)
