Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint held a virtual meeting with EU’s senior electoral expert Mr Saphy Gilles and his group yesterday afternoon. During the meeting, the experts from EU asked the Union Minister questions about state media’s activities for the upcoming general elections, the situations related to the Broadcasting Law of Myanmar, political parties’ electoral campaigns, plans to report election results in state media, and the Information Ministry’s activities to combat false news and misinformation. The Union Minister responded to those questions.

Regarding Myanmar’s upcoming general elections, the Union Minister also sought opinions and suggestions from the experts. The virtual meeting was participated by EU’s senior electoral expert Mr Saphy Gilles, Acting Head of EU Embassy Mr Johann Hesse, Mr Frédéric Maduraud (Head of Political, Economic, Trade, Press and Information Section & Minister Counsellor), Mr Lidauer Michael (Senior Elections, Governance and Peacebuilding Consultant), Ms Ramos Alves Cristina (Electoral and Legal Expert) and Media Professional Ms Lase Inta.
