Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint met with a group led by Myanmar Printers & Publishers Association Chairperson Daw Nan Kalyar Win at Myanmar Radio and Television meeting hall in Yangon yesterday afternoon and discussed arrangement for issuing publishing licence for one time publication under the Printing and Publishing Law and its bylaw, the requirement for publishers to send one copy to the National Library as prescribed in the National Library Bill, making suggestions on the bill, formation of an agency stipulated in the law, printing and publishing technologies.


Earlier in the morning the Union Minister met with expert group on republishing Myanmar encyclopedia consisting of Steering Committee on Republishing Myanmar Encyclopedia Chairman Sithu U Thaw Kaung and Tun Foundation Chairman U Thein Tun and Work Committee members to continue publishing Hundred Myanmar Classic Book Series.


The Hundred Myanmar Classic Book Series was published with the aims of putting into the hands of readers the Myanmar literature that started from Bagan era, retain and preserve Myanmar literature for future generations, for youths to value and cherish Myanmar literature and for the people to acquire and develop reading habit. The first three volumes of 100 Myanmar Classic Book Series were already published and Volume 4, 5 and 6 will be published in October while arrangements were made to publish Volume 7, 8 and 9 it is learnt. — MNA
