Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye held a video conference with officials from regions and states discussing prevention of hate speech and incitement to violence. The meeting at his office in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday was attended by the deputy minister, the directors-general and the directors of Nay Pyi Taw Council and State/Region offices.

Dr Win Myat Aye said staff and officials of the ministry will also implement the directive of President’s Office issued on 20 April 2020, while his office is working for the emergence of community with social economic development and unity.

He also remarked that hate speech is an obstacle to such community, while incitements to violence are caused by hate speech on diversity of race, religion and gender. The Union Minister called for his staff to avoid saying, publishing and inciting hatred.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
