UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye met with the Human Rights Commission for Persons with Disabilities in Wellington, New Zealand, yesterday morning.

 

At the meeting, the Union Minister discussed activities to human rights of PWDs in Myanmar, enforcing rights for women, children and elders with disabilities in accordance with the Concluding Observation of UNCRPD and legal aid to equal rights for PWDs.

 

Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye also held talks with the State Services Commissioner and the Department of Internal Affairs on the guidelines for employment of PWDs, educative programmes for their job opportunities, specific assistance to the PWDs of different kinds and ages and adopting accessibility charter.

 

During the meeting with the disabled supporting networks of New Zealand, the Union Minister exchanged views on making guidelines, strategy and work plan in providing supports to the PWDs, and discussed with the Disability Coalition about human rights and development programmes for the PWDs.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
