UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye held a meeting with the Rakhine Coordination Committee and UN agencies at the meeting hall of the state government yesterday afternoon.
The meeting was also at-tended by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, Member of the Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development in Rakhine (UEHRD) U Toe Aung, Deputy Minister U Soe Aung and cabinet members of the State government.
At the meeting, the Union Minister said works for peace, stability and development in Rakhine State are aimed for the whole areas of the state. He also added cooperation of civil societies and international organizations are important for the Union government, the State government, local officers and local communities.
The Union Minister said the Rakhine Coordination Commit-tee is helping in the works of UN agencies and international organizations, and that the assistances are to be constructive and supportive of peace, stability and development. He also called for full cooperation, especially in challenging situations.
Rakhine State’s Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Min Than, as the Chair-man of Rakhine Coordination Committee, said that UN agencies have access to most of the areas, except some areas for security reason, to provide aid and healthcare services for the displaced civilians from armed conflicts.
The Minister also asked for effective humanitarian assistance for them.
Member of UEHRD U Toe Aung suggested resettlement Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye meets with Rakhine Coordination Committee, UN agenciesprogrammes should be implemented in cooperation with UN agencies and NGOs, and he ex-pressed thanks for the works of the Rakhine State government.
Then, officials from UN Representative Office, UNHCR, UNDP, Red Cross Movement (MRCS, ICRC and IFRC) and UNOCHA explained their works with the Union government, their projects in Rakhine State, providing food and healthcare services.
The Union Minister then confirmed collaboration with UN agencies, and expressed thanks for their coordination with the government in the assistance of other countries and for the best cooperation of Red Cross Movement.
