Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye received officials from Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute (KODDI), World Bank and Embassy of Switzerland separately at Maykhalar Hall of his ministry yesterday.
During the meeting with Director-General Dr Choi Woong-seon from KODDI, they discussed matters related to collaboration with KODDI for the establishment of national level rehabilitation and development centre, raising capacity of persons with disabilities in disaster response and creating job opportunities for disable persons, and signing a memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation.
Similarly, in the meeting with programme leader of World Bank Mr Mark Astin, they discussed matters related to projects being implemented by the World Bank in Myanmar, making investment schemes and future work plans, providing aid for disastrous floods in Myanmar, cooperation between World Bank and disaster management committees of Myanmar, Ayeyawady Integrated River Basin Management Projects being conducted with WB’s loan and project to construct embankments along the river basin.
Afterward, in the meeting with Mr Giacomo Solari, Deputy Head of Mission at Swiss Embassy in Myanmar, they discussed landmine awareness activities cooperated with other organizations including governments of Switzerland, New Zealand and Norway, arranging training courses in internal and external, planning for resettlement of internally displaced persons in the whole country and drawing up the national-level strategy for closing IDP camps and signing a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.—MNA
