Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw arrived at Bago River Bridge construction site in Yangon Region yesterday morning. In the briefing hall Department of Bridge Deputy Director General U Nay Aung Ye Myint, Chief Engineer U Kyaw Lin and an official from consultant company explained about bridge construction matters, coordinating with relevant organizations and entities on removal of buildings, electrical poles and pipelines that were on the path of the bridge, bridge site selection, work processes in the bridge construction project and implementing work processes. The Union Minister coordinated where necessary on the explanations made. The bridge will be constructed with a new Japanese technology.

 


Next the Union Minister and party went to Thanlyin side of Yangon-Thanlyin Bridge 1 to inspect the upgrading work of 8.7 km Thanlyin-Thilawa road conducted under JICA ODA loan.

 


From there the Union Minister and party inspected the asphalt concrete (AC) laying works on the junction of Thanlyin-Kyauktan and Thanlyin-Thilawa road, construction of concrete box culvert, concrete pipe culvert, digging of drains on both side of the road and boxes to insert cable lines conducted by contractor Tekken Corporation and consultant Nippon Koei Co., Ltd.

 


Afterwards at the Road Department Southern District office briefing hall status of upgrading Thanlyin-Thilawa road conducted under JICA ODA loan was explained sector wise by officials. The Union Minister provided remarks where necessary.

 


The 8.7 km (5 miles 4 furlong) long international standard four lanes Thanlyin-Thilawa road is 46 ft. wide. Road shoulder on both sides is 6.6 ft. wide and had boxes for cable lines and drains on both sides of the road. The entire project is 74% completed it is learnt. — MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
