Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin received Ms Hai Kyung Jun, the newly–appointed UNHCR Representative in Myanmar at 10:00 am on 25 November 2020 via videoconference. During the occasion, Ms Hai Kyung Jun presented her credentials to the Union Minister through video link.

After the presentation of the credentials, the Union Minister congratulated the new Representative of UNHCR on her appointment and extended a warm welcome to Myanmar and the latter also congratulated the Government of Myanmar for successful holding of the general elections in a safe and peaceful manner. They exchanged views on the matters pertaining to the success of cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand on voluntary repatriation of displaced persons in Thailand with the assistance of UNHCR, the progress on the implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) for the communities in Rakhine State under the MoU signed between Myanmar and UNDP and UNHCR and strengthening cooperation between Myanmar and UNHCR with mutual respect and trust on the repatriation process of the displaced persons from Rakhine State.—MNA
