On behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Union Minister for Ministry 1 of the President’s Office, U Tin Aung San, yesterday signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Bangladesh to Myanmar, 11(B), Thanlwin Road, Kamayut Township, Yangon, following the demise of Begum Khaleda Zia, the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh, on 30 December 2025.
First, the Union minister met with and greeted the Ambassador and officials of the Embassy of Bangladesh to Myanmar at the Embassy Guest Hall and expressed his condolences, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, on the demise of Bangladesh’s first female Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia. He conveyed his condolences to the Government and people of Bangladesh, as well as to the family of Begum Khaleda Zia, and signed the condolence book.
Bangladesh’s first female Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, paid a goodwill visit to Myanmar from 19 to 21 March 2003. She was 80 years old at the time of her death. — MNA/TH
