Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin attended and made an inaugural remark at the opening ceremony of the “Myanmar ASEAN Women’s Friendship Association(MAWFA) Fundraising and Charity Bazaar 2019” which was held at 09:00 a.m. on 14 September 2019 at the Yangon Convention Center, Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon.


Present at the opening ceremony were Dr. Shwe Hluan, wife of Vice President 2 and Spouses of Union Ministers, wife of the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, Mr. Pehin Dato Abdu’r Rahmani Dato Basir, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Myanmar and wife, ASEAN Ambassadors and their spouses, Ambassadors and diplomats from the Diplomatic Missions in Yangon, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Members of Myanmar ASEAN Women’s Friendship Association (MAWFA) and Members of Women Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representatives from the civil society foundations and charity associations such as Association for Prevention, Care and Protection of Abandoned Children(APCPAC)(Myanmar), Withaka Foundation, Lay Kyunthu Foundation, Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Association(MWEA), International Cultural and Charity Group (ICCG), Wayhyma Myitta Social Foundation, Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) and invited guests.


At the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Pehin Dato Abdu’r Rahmani Dato Basir, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Myanmar also made a remark, on behalf of ASEAN Embassies in Yangon.


The MAWFA organized the Fundraising and Charity Bazaar 2019 with an aim to showcasing diverse cultures, foods and national costumes of ASEAN, promoting public awareness of ASEAN and strengthening unity and friendship. A variety of products, foods, handicrafts, jewelry, traditional costumes and textile from all ASEAN Member States will be displayed and sold at the Bazaar.


All the proceeds from the Charity Bazaar will go to “Safe House” caring for single mothers and their infants and to “Sharing Love Charity” providing education for Street Children. The Bazaar will be open to the public from 14 to 15 September 2019 at the Yangon Convention Center, Yangon.— Ministry of International Cooperation
