U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation received Mr Ranieri Sabatucci, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at 4:00 pm on 27 October 2020 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.


At the meeting, the Union Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his recent appointment as the EU’s Ambassador to Myanmar. They also cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further enhancement of cooperation between Myanmar and the European Union, promotion of the EU’s investments in Myanmar to create job opportunities and for the development of health and education sectors for Myanmar people, to have affordable and accessible COVID-19 vaccines once successfully produced and the EU’s Electoral Experts Mission to observe the forthcoming Myanmar’s General Elections.


In addition, they also discussed about the continued and consistent support of the European Union towards Myanmar’s democratic transition, peace and national reconciliation processes. The Union Minister expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for the European Union’s financial assistance provided to workers who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also highlighted the importance to understand each other’s challenges and concerns and the need to take constructive approaches in addressing these challenges.—MNA
