Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win inspected tree nursery, community forest and elephant camp in NyaungU Township of Mandalay Region yesterday.

The Union Minister and party first arrived at the tree nursery established by the Dry Zone Greening Department, and gave advice on growing appropriate plant species with the region.

They later proceeded to Palin Kan Tharyar Elephant Camp to inspect the constructions of an elephant museum, jetty for relaxation and community forest jointly set up by the Forest Department and a Japanese forest developing association.

The community forest project was implemented from 2017 to 2019 with primary objectives of afforestation, meeting the local consumption of forest products, and participation of local people for their socioeconomic development.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
