Union Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Soe Win received a US government delegation led by Mr Adam Boehler, Chief Executive Officer of the Development Finance Corporation, at National Archives Department yesterday morning. At the meeting, the Union Minister said the DFC is an organization that supports the development of relation and economic cooperation between the US and Myanmar and the country also implements Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP) by establishing the Project Bank and Land Bank to be effective project implementation in carrying out the Strategic Development Projects.
He also discussed rising trade volume between the US and Myanmar since 2011, investment of US businesses at the industrial zones and special economic zones in Myanmar and cooperation work in export financing and SME financing sector. After their discussion, Deputy Minister U Sett Aung briefed the prospective investment in SEZs of Myanmar, the progress of MSDP, instructions regarding the Anti-Money Laundering of government, action plans in line with the stipulations of Asia Pacific Group and cooperation work between Myanmar and US Treasury.


Deputy Minister Dr Min Ye Paing Hein also discussed the economic impacts of COVID-19 pandemic especially on MSMEs, COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan (CERP) of government, the needs of strategic financing for MSMEs and he called on the US Export-Import Bank to continue supporting the rehabilitation process of businesses in Myanmar.


The representatives of US Treasury, US Export-Import Bank and DFC presented their performance between Myanmar while Chief Executive Officer Mr Adam Boehler of DFC extended his wish for Myanmar to overcome the current situation and discussed a decade-long bilateral trade, businesses that attract investors like Chubb Life insurance industry, business persons wanting to invest in energy and Cyber Security sectors and also in special economic zones and further cooperation works for US businesses in Myanmar. —MNA
