THE Ministry of Transport and Communications held a meeting to design a roadmap for the development of the logistics sectors in Myanmar, organize a coordinating committee in collaboration with the relevant ministries and private organizations related to the logistics sectors and to revise the appropriate regulations and facilitation of logistics activities yesterday.

At the meeting, Union Minister U Thant Sin Maung said that the Ministry of Transport and Communications is making concerted efforts for the development of logistics sector and the National Logistics Master Plan has been drawn up with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the aim of developing national-level supporting activities.

He also added only through good cooperation between the government and private sector can there be developed logistics services for economic growth.

Dr Myo Nyein Aye, Director of Transport Planning Department explained the National Logistics Master Plan while the private organizations in the logistics sector discussed work related to the National Logistics Master Plan from their relevant sector.

The officials of relevant ministries joined the meeting together with the chairpersons and executive members of Myanmar Transport and Logistics Federation (MTLF), Myanmar Mercantile Marine Development Association (MMMDA), Myanmar Container Trucking Association (MCTA), Myanmar Customs Brokers Association (MCBA), Myanmar International Freight Forwarders’ Association (MIFFA), Coastal Voyage Ship-Owner Association (CVSA), Myanmar Highway Freight Transportation and Service Association (MHFTSA).
