US President Donald Trump says he is thinking about allowing Poland into the visa-waiver program. This allows citizens of participating countries to visit the United States without a visa for tourism and business.
Trump revealed the plan during a White House news conference after his meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Wednesday. Trump said that a decision will probably be made within 90 days.
Poland had asked for a visa exemption in return for its cooperation with the US administration of George W Bush in the war against Iraq that began in 2003.
US ties with some European countries have soured, but Poland has purchased US-made weapons and energy in recent months.
