US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has warned that Iran faces increased pressure, including further sanctions, if it breaches a uranium enrichment cap.
Pompeo took to Twitter on Sunday, after Iran announced it will raise the level of uranium enrichment beyond the limit set by the 2015 nuclear deal.
Pompeo wrote that "Iran's regime, armed with nuclear weapons, would pose an even greater danger to the world." He added that "Iran's latest expansion of its nuclear program will lead to further isolation and sanctions."
US President Donald Trump talked to reporters about Iran's proposed move. He said, "it's no good," and warned that "Iran better be careful." Observers say the Trump administration apparently hopes to win support from the international community to apply more pressure on Iran by stressing the threat posed by its nuclear program.
