An inauguration ceremony of a rural road took place in Maingthon Village, Wuntho Township in Sagaing Region on Sunday.
    

 

At the ceremony, regional lawmaker Daw Khaing Khaing Win, an official from the Department of Rural Development, the deputy township administrator, the deputy commander of the township Red Cross Society and officials opened the earthen road by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. The landlocked village consists of 87 houses with over 500 residents and lags behind development when compared to other villages, said U Yan Aye, the village administrator.
    

 

Previously, residents relied on motorbikes to travel to other areas. He continued that now local people can access to Wuntho within an hour, expressing thanks to concerned officials for construction of the road. The road is one mile and four furlongs long, 18 ft. wide and one foot thick. Construction of the road began on 26 January and was completed on 29 March.

 


It was built with Ks. 15 million in which Ks. 10 million was from the fund of the Village Development Plan and Ks. 5 million was donated by local people.—Min Myint Mo (Ngazun)
