Monywa 24 April

The Bamboo and Environmental Greening Association will embark on establishing a 50-acre village made of bamboo in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region in May, said U Thant Zin, Chairman of the association.

“The weather is extreme hot because our region is located in arid zone. Planting trees is one of the methods to reduce temperature. We’ll set up a village where local youths can learn different kinds of handicraft made of bamboo. Various bamboo species in Myanmar will be put on display there. Arrangements will be made for visitors to observe bamboo-based products,” he said.

The association submitted a proposal to create a 50-acre village in the western side of Bohdi Tahtaung Sasana Area to the regional government on 2 January this year. The permission was made under the government cabinet’s meeting 7/2019 held on 29 March.—Win Oo
