The opening ceremony of a vocational training course on making value-added food was held at a vocational training center for women in Myeik, Taninthayi Region this morning.
On the occasion, Deputy Director of the Small Scale Industry Department U Kyaw Zin Tun explained the purpose of the course. Principal of the vocational training school for women Daw Su Myat Aye said that a similar course was conducted last year so the new course is the second of its kind, urging the trainees to try their best as the course is very fruitful to them.
The one-week course is being attended by 15 trainees from Myeik, Palaw, Kyunsu and Taninthayi Township. Two course instructors from the SSID are giving practical and theoretical training on making different food by using teaching aid materials.
The training course organized by the SSID under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation aims at establishing manageable scale businesses by women, increasing their income and improving their socioeconomic status.—Myint Oo (Myeik)
